Prayer Ideas for Lent
Idea #1:
Since stones are in use this Lent....
Give a stone to each child...Have them think of someone or something they would like the group to
pray for. E.g. my Grandma who is sick, the kids at school who have been fighting..
Each child names their prayer intention as they put their stone by the candle.
The teacher leads: "Dear Jesus we pass our worries unto you....(then a wee moment of silence).....we pray your blessing on everyone. Help us to be your hands and voice in the world."
And we say together the Lord's Prayer - p. 211 in the BAS.
Idea #2:
Have the kids link index fingers with each other & say.."We thank you God for sending Jesus to be our Saviour and forever friend!"
Idea #3:
Protection Prayer - Choose one person to be the "sheep". Have everyone form a tight "hug huddle"
around the sheep. Pray a prayer similar to this one: "Dear God, thank you for being our shepherd
and for loving (name). Help (name) be a faithful sheep and follow you each day. In Jesus name,
Amen.
Allow the sheep to choose a new person to be the sheep. Pray for each person..including the teacher!
